Lebanon residents have suffered shameful Pay 2010 property tax increases because of the I-65 annexation completed as part of the Greater Lebanon Community Vision Committee's headlong pursuit of disorderly and non-sensible growth.

Three categories of Lebanon property owners had their property taxes go up in 2010 because of the I-65 annexation: (1) Lebanon property owners within the city boundaries prior to the annexation, (2) Center Township property owners that were annexed, (3) Perry Township property owners that were annexed.

(1) The current Pay 2010 Total Property Tax Rate for those property owners within the Lebanon city boundaries prior to the I-65 annexation is $2.0696. IF there were NO annexation, the Pay 2010 Total Property Tax Rate of these property owners would be $2.0148. The property owners within the old Lebanon city limits pay 2.72% more in 2010 property taxes because of the I-65 annexation. This property tax increase is caused by the $447,383 Lebanon Excess Property Tax Levy due to the I-65 annexation.

(2) The current Pay 2010 Total Property Tax Rate for those Center Township property owners that were included in the I-65 annexation is $2.0696. IF there were NO annexation, the Pay 2010 Total Property Tax Rate of these property owners would be $1.6520. The Center Township property owners that were annexed pay 25.28% more in 2010 property taxes because of the I-65 annexation. This property tax increase is caused by the City of Lebanon Property Tax Rate that the Center Township annexed property owners now have to pay.

(3) The current Pay 2010 Total Property Tax Rate for those Perry Township property owners that were included in the I-65 annexation is $1.9218. IF there were NO annexation, the Pay 2010 Total Property Tax Rate of these property owners would be $1.3878. The Perry Township property owners that were annexed pay 38.48% more in 2010 property taxes because of the I-65 annexation. This property tax increase is caused by the City of Lebanon Property Tax Rate that the Perry Township annexed proprty owners now have to pay.
