County Council Voting Record

Starting November 14, 2002, the votes of Boone County Council members on important resolutions that relate to revenues, spending, and long-term debt assumption were recorded. Boone County voters should consider these key votes when they make election decisions at the ballot box.

Convention Center. The proposed $3 million "convention center" at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds should not be built at this time. There are a number of reasons why the Boone County Council should postpone this nice-to-have project in favor of needed property tax relief. A YES vote that allocates money for the convention center receives a Watchdog Lebanon X. A NO vote that postpones the convention center receives a Watchdog Lebanon  . Construction of a Boone County "convention center" was voted down by a County Council vote of 4-3 on November 18, 2002.

Emergency Telephone System (E911) Fee Increase. An E911 Fee increase is not needed because (1) the Boone County Sheriff's Department is already provided enough revenue through the County's General Fund and (2) the E911 Fund has a significant cash balance. A YES vote FOR increasing the E911 Fee receives a Watchdog Lebanon X. A NO vote AGAINST increasing the E911 Fee receives a Watchdog Lebanon

Lebanon Library Board Appointment. A vote to reappoint Jane Myers to the Lebanon Public Library Board receives a Watchdog Lebanon X. A vote to appoint anyone other than Jane Myers receives a Watchdog Lebanon . Jane Myers, as President of the Lebanon Public Library Board, leads an effort by library advocates to construct an overbuilt and extravagant addition to the Lebanon Public Library. She refuses to consider the Taxpayer Friendly compromise of capping property tax support of a Library addition at $5 million and raising any other desired funds from private sources. Opposition to the overbuilt and extravagant Library addition is so widespread that there should be no difficulty in finding a Lebanon Public Library Board appointee who would be Taxpayer Friendly. County Council voted 6-1 on September 14, 2004, to reappoint Jane Myers to the Lebanon Public Library Board.
